Anyone have recommendations on a simple share button for my #wordpress blogs? I removed all the plugins for they were cluttered and a nuisance, and I keep seeing simple buttons like this but have no idea what plugin to use. It has to be free with no pro version, or if for sale, then a one-off payment rather than subscription. #blog #webdev

My novella is on pre-order, set in a #solarpunk world and about a grandma who has to coordinate the defense of her village after a coloniser invades. She's a peasant and her country has no weapons, no army. The story doesn't focus on the war, we don't ever see the frontline. So I think I've fixed all the little technical bits of the website, set up a shop with email delivery system, and now I can say my small press venture is up and running. In this blog, I make the announcement, and reflect on my previous foray into publishing, the hurdles I face, and what I hope to gain from it all. Well, now I start on the hardest part, convincing people to actually buy and read the books.

Writing non-fiction is such a pain! Yet very necessary. Just spent almost two weeks on an article less than 3k words, which I easily output in one sitting if its fiction, yet I most likely won't get paid. The amount of time taken to cite other works to support your argument is just insane. You write "the sky is blue" and the editor goes "we know, but can you make a citation to back up your claim?" Ngrrr!

Sometimes I think my #solarpunk ideas are very original. Decentralized countries. 3D printers manufacturing anything. Biophotovaltic panels that grow in backyards to power homes. And then I read an article like this and I remember that a lot of other writers like me are reacting to our present dilemmas and troubles, and we probably grew up on the same kind of scifi stories so we most likely end up with the same solutions. Does anyone else have songs from artists who perhaps never made it beyond a handful of fans? I have some songs I treasure, got the CDs from the musicians or friends over 10yrs ago, but they've dropped out of the radar and I can't find them anywhere. Just their voice haunting my speakers like a sweet ghost. There's also an mp3 I got off a yahoo group, around 2005. I like the song, but it has no artist name, no title, just a voice and a guitar, perhaps home recorded.

I just shared a post on my #patreon as I've been wondering what to do next, now that it is ending the per-creation model. Subscription billing means I'll have to share a piece of art every month, and I can't do that with film. I think it's a call to write more, and surely, I can do a short story every month, and given that I have this ambitious publishing dream, well, I had to make the move sooner or later.

Question on #copyright I intend to publish a public domain book, Myths and Legends of the Bantu. I think it's an important documentation of our cultures, but it has problematic and racist content. So my goal is to strip it of racism, fix some factual errors, etc. I can't claim authorship, original author has moral rights to that. I'll only claim editorship. But 1) Can I legally register a copyright to this edition? 2) Is this whitewashing the author of her racism?
